At any given time, the number of dogs we can bring into rescue is restricted by our available funds and foster homes. Both are always in need and both are very hard to come by.
To that end, we are a small, nationally registered Not-for-Profit organization. We are governed by the Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporations Act which allows us to solicit donations in order to operate. However, we are NOT a registered charity, thus we cannot issue receipts directly for tax purposes.
If you need the tax receipt, the best option is to donate to the "Sponsor-a-Pet Program" by checking out our list of dogs on PetFinder & clicking on the "sponsor" button of any one of them. This is a donation to the Petfinder Foundation (US) - they take 10% of the total and disperse the rest to us. As well as the Sponsor-a-Pet program, we have also received three Orvis Grants through the Petfinder Foundation in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Please note that transactions are in USD.
In December of 2020 and June of 2021, we received a $1000 grant from MyGivingCircle. There are a several options to choose from if you go through MyGivingCircle to support us...
If you work for a corporation that encourages and matches employee donations to community endeavours, please check with them to see if have signed up with the Benevity Spark platform.
We also host some small agility trials and seminars, as well as herding clinics (with Phantom Ridge Border Collies) as often as we can. However, during these Covid-19 restrictions, we are currently working on 2022 schedules.
We have also signed up with various affiliate programs that donate back a percentage of the purchase when you shop on their sites and choose us as the cause you support.
The majority of our funding, though, comes from friends and family through various 'FUN'draising campaigns.
Alberta Herding Dog Rescue has received a $700.00 Orvis Grant from the Petfinder Foundation.
Alberta Herding Dog Rescue has received a $500.00 Orvis Grant from the Petfinder Foundation.
Alberta Herding Dog Rescue has received a $472.72 Orvis Grant from the Petfinder Foundation.
The Petfinder Foundation Orvis Grant program is used to assist Petfinder members through the promotion of dog adoption.
We are always happy to accept food, treats and/or toy donations as well as bedding and/or crates. If you are shopping at Rascals Pet Supplies (Calgary) or Pet Planet Ranch Market (Strathmore), they will collect food, treats and toy donations for us.
Our dogs love food and generally do not have adverse reactions to any brand. We happily and gratefully mix any donated food with our base brands - FirstMate and Acana.
Our vets will also accept direct payments to our account, if we have an outstanding balance.
