RE-HOMING YOUR DOG

If you want to re-home your dog yourself,  Pet Adoptions Network is an online community that connects people who need to find a new home for their pet with people who want to adopt a pet like theirs.

The Pet Adoptions Network provides much of what you need to help you find a new home for your pet without having to surrender them to a shelter or rescue.  You have more control of where your pet goes and it leaves space in the shelter or rescue for those pets who have no where else to stay until they find their new family.

  • People who want to adopt have the confidence of knowing that the pets they view online are truly available.
  • Guardians (current pet owners) can safely message with, and meet, potential adopters, so they can gain the peace of mind that comes from knowing their pet is going to a good home.
  • Adopters can learn about pets from the guardians who know them best, and meet the pet in a low-stress environment where they are behaving normally.

ABHDR is not, in any way, affiliated with the Pet Adoptions Network.

COURTESY POSTINGS

On occasion, we are asked to help someone - an individual or another rescue group - rehome a herding breed.  Although we would love to help every dog find a furever home, we are a small group with limited resources.  Our time and resources need to go into finding furever families for the dogs that are actually in our care.  The sooner we can find homes for our foster dogs, the sooner we can open up space for the next dog in need.

We will happily cross post herding breeds in another Alberta shelter or rescue group on our facebook page when asked or if we happen to come across a post in our newsfeed.  We want to see any herding breed, in any local facility, find an appropriate home.  If it is deemed to be helpful, we will also cross post for rescue organizations in other provinces as well.

If an individual would like to re-home their herding breed but they do not want to actually surrender it to our care, the best we can do is cross post your facebook posting on our facebook page.  We do have a few ground rules for courtesy postings, which you can view by clicking on the button below.

We do not promote cross orcourtesy posts or screen interested parties.  That is entirely up to the owner of that dog.
