We sometimes take in quirky, fearful or reactive dogs, knowing that it may take them a while to become more confident and/or less worried or it may take us longer to figure out their quirks. We will also take in active seniors, knowing that they will most likely retire at the retreat because there are so few people out there willing to give a senior a final home.
Once we take these special dogs into rescue, they are welcome to stay until the perfect match is found. However, some of them just do not seem to attract potential adopters or even a general inquiry. Having said that though, they are still adoptable if the perfect someone does come along so the Meet 'n' Greet is a critical step in the process for these harder to please dogs - we want to be sure they show an interest in the adopter(s) and that the adopter(s) are very comfortable working with their issues or providing the health care they require as they age gracefully.
Until that perfect match is found, the dogs listed below are welcome to romp around or even retire at the Retreat, where they are already comfortable.
Our adoption fees vary based on the age of the dog. Not all dogs require the same amount of vetting so the fees for those who needed very little vetting subsidize the vetting costs of those that needed more.
If extensive vet care is required, we may charge a higher adoption fee (cost will be noted in the dog's profile) if we do not do a separate fundraiser for those costs.
PUPPIES (up to 1 year old) $350
YOUNG ADULT (> 1 year, up to 4 years old) $300
MATURE ADULT (> 4 years, up to 8 years old) $250
SENIOR DOGS (> 8 years old) DONATION
A $100 non-refundable deposit required at time of approval, if adoption transfer date is delayed by request.
We reserve the right to waive any adoption fee for any reason.
